The indispensable companion for Solid Edge TRACE
PARTS 3D for Solid Edge is aimed at streamlining the design process by removing the
repetitive task of modeling frequently used mechanical parts. MORE THAN A LIBRARY...
As
well as being a comprehensive library application containing a large number of diverse 3D
mechanical parts to both international standard and manufacturers dimensions, TRACE
PARTS 3D is also a powerful management tool. It caters for the customization of the
library by the creation/ edition of information files associated to individual components,
while the applications network capabilities enable entire drawing offices to work
from identical source material. EFFICIENTTRACE PARTS 3D has been designed to be very easy
to use, while remaining highly configurable by the user. The program includes both an
intuitive interface, that simplifies the selection and insertion process, and a powerful
search engine that allows users to locate parts quickly. ADAPTABLE...
Keeping
TRACE PARTS 3D up-to-date with the frequent releases of new parts and added functionality
is easy. Licensed users can use the TRACE PARTS web site for downloading new part
families. INTEGRATED
TRACE
PARTS 3D is seamlessly integrated within Solid Edge and is compatible with other
applications functioning on this platform. The application also communicates with Solid
Edge for the automated creation of Parts Lists.
TRACE PARTS 3D for Solid
Edge USER INTERFACE
TRACE
PARTS 3Ds front-end interface is the fruit of many years experience and
analysis of our customers desires. The interface has been designed using leading
edge technology and is a highly customizable, powerful tool. The interface is composed of
three main sections: A user driven hierarchical list of active parts, graphic
representations of each part and the search filter section. This simple layout enables
users to rapidly select parts that correspond to their requirements. THE PARTS
TRACE
PARTS 3D is an extensive library application, including many of the most frequently used
mechanical parts in industry. The library includes such parts as: Fasteners, bearings,
bushes, hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, attachments, flanges, sections, shaft ends,
keys, seals, positioning elements, support elements, piping, and others... New part
families are added regularly, please contact us or consult our web site,
www.trace-parts.com, for an up- to-date list of the parts in the library. SEARCH ENGINE
To
make it possible to view parts corresponding to current needs TRACE PARTS 3D is equipped
with a sophisticated search engine. This search engine uses Visual Query technology to
display parts with respect to user defined criteria. Searches are performed according to
criteria that the user drags from the list of possible criteria and drops on the list of
applied filters. This instantaneously updates the list of active parts to contain only
those that conform to the filter criteria applied. By
simply repeating the drag and drop process with your mouse the user can easily create very
complex and specific filters. For example, you are working on a project in which you can
only use stainless steel: You therefore simply select the stainless steel criteria and
apply it to the list of active filters. This results in the library being filtered to only
include stainless steel parts. The application also allows users to save search engine
configurations for future use. INSERTION
Each
part within the library consists of a parametric model and an attached database of
possible International Standard or manufacturers dimensions. Once the user has
selected the part to be inserted a dimension selection dialogue box is displayed. This
selection screen includes a real time 3D visualization of the part to be inserted that
conforms to the currently selected dimensions. This 3D model can be rotated and
manipulated by the user and, when applicable, the level of detail of the part can be
altered. This functionality allows users to verify parts before insertion and makes it
possible to always insert the correct part the first time. Parts inserted are native
Solid Edge 3D parts. Once inserted the part can be manipulated using the usual
Solid Edge commands. NETWORK USE
TRACE
PARTS 3D is fully network compatible. Multiple stations or even entire drawing offices can
be configured to use identical source files, while keeping individual library
configurations. This means drawing office managers can have direct and exclusive control
over the information and parts that are used by their personnel. SMARTHELP
The
Smarthelp functionality included within TRACE PARTS 2) enables users to attach and
display complementary information files concerning a selected part (characteristics,
mounting conditions, manufacturers details, ...). This information can be in any of
a number of different file formats (.doc, .avi, .xls, .htm, ...), and can be edited,
created or completed by the user or the drawing office manager. INTERNET
Users of TRACE PARTS 3D can keep up-to-date using the TRACE PARTS web site (www.trace-parts.com). This web site will allow licensed users to download the latest additions to the library.
